This is a work of fiction written as historically accurate as possible. The story has it roots in fact. It is a co-operative effort of myself, Ed Sims and, Dianna Kelley Patterson. The subject of this story is a boy named Wilson Creed Sims and it is set at the outbreak of the Civil War in rural Alabama. Wilson's father was a soldier in the Confederate States Army. Although only nine years old Wilson also rode to war with his father. He along with many other youngsters at that time who were too young to be soldiers, carried mail and small packages between the soldiers and their home. This is the story of that event. The difference between this boy and others is, this action cost him his life.
Dianna and I share a common interest in this story. Alexander Sims, father of Wilson Creed was our common GG Grandfather. He was killed in action near Shelbyville TN. March 17, 1863 while serving in the 4th Alabama Calvary (Russell's) Regiment. His place of burial has never been found.
The characters you will read about are real. They lived. And died. With Dianna's help I am trying to bring these characters to printed life. Come and meet them. See how they lived, meet their families and listen to their thoughts.
Well, this site has changed again. I found that as more chapters were added, I spent more time modifying the menus than I did working on the chapters themselves. This new style is compatable with Internet Explorer 4.x and higher, Netscape 6.x and higher and Opera 5.x plus. Users of Lennux, and Macintosh should also be able to view it properly with any browser less than two years old.
This is a work in progress. As more of the story is completed it will be posted here. If you have any information about the individuals or events depicted here, please forward that information to me. Every tidbit of information helps to bring into light the facts of this story.
